Augsburg University Exchange

Augsburg

About the Program

Located in Augsburg, about one hour from Munich, this exchange partner's local city history reaches back to 15 B.C., when it was founded by the Romans. Augsburg, a sister city of Dayton, is home to the father of Mozart, host of several cultural heritage sites from the Renaissance, and is rich in cultural activities.

Areas of Study

Most majors will find coursework that will apply towards their degree at UD if proficient in German.  Intensive German language and culture courses are available.

"Studying abroad is the perfect mixture of excitement, fear, anticipation, and pride – and when all of those are combined, you have the best experience you could ever ask for. My summer in Europe taught me more about the world and about myself than I could ever learn in a classroom and I don’t think I’ll ever get over how fun it was!"

There were so many things that were challenging when I got to Augsburg, namely learning how to get around the city and speaking German to everyone. Homesickness was also a pretty big problem for a while, but toward the end I got very comfortable in Augsburg and gained a lot of confidence because of what I had accomplished so far. I had pretty much gone through the German bureaucracy myself and though it was stressful and scary, I knew that I had grown and matured so much from that, and that was the greatest reward. I highly recommend this experience to other students. The challenges at first were absolutely worth it in the end.
